Rice is one of the most important foods in the world, supplying as much has half of the daily calories fro haft of the world population. There are two types of rice: brown rice and white rice. Brown rice is a very good source of nutrients. It has been reported that brown rice and other whole grains substantially reduce the risk of diabetes and other dangerous disease such as breast cancer, gallstones.

The process of making brown rice removes only the outermost layer, the hull of the rice kernel and of course is the least damaging to its nutritional value. The process f milling and polishing used for white rice has been reported to destroy 67% of vitamin B3, 90% of vitamin B6, and 80% of vitamin B1 and all of the dietary fiber and vital fatty acids. Brown rice is also an important dietary source of water-soluble, fat-soluble and insoluble antioxidants. The high antioxidant capacity of brown rice is 20 fold that of white rice. Therefore, I you want to get the best from our daily meals, you should consider eating brown rice.

Brown rice is cooked in a different way than regular white rice. Here I will show you how to cook brown rice using a microwave oven.

Things you will need:

* Brown Rice * Measuring cup * Water * 2 ½ quart microwave-safe dish

In the microwave safe dish, poor 3 cups of water into 1 cup of brown rice. Put the dish into the microwave and cook on high for about 10 minutes.

Now you can reduce the power to 50% and cook for another 20 minutes. After the brown rice has been completely cooked, leave it in the oven for 5 minutes.
